The Dandenong ranges have always been a very special destination to visit..long drives through lush victorian rain-forests, the freshest of air, amazing food, quaint cafes, friendly people, large antique collections, hidden gems and a real sense of mystery.
All it takes is 45 minutes out of the hustle and bustle of Melbourne, and you find yourself in the gorgeous Dandenongs. From Sassafras, Montrose to Olinda, wherever you choose to stop, you wont be disappointed, and this is all on our doorstep.
This weekend brought a day visit to the ranges which reminded me of my love for the area… lolly shops, antique dealers, cheese shops, soap and tea specialty stores, wool merchants to home made scones by the fire. We all left with a very strong feeling of magic & mystery. If you are after something different but oh so very special, take a day out of your hectic lifestyles and make your way up to the Dandenong ranges to experience the rich out of Melbourne history…..trust me its worth it.
